I have only one sentence to sum up this one-of-a-kind-sadistic-torture-of-a-movie: You can squash the whole thing in 30 minutes and still spare some time for advertisements.
My friend
Irene did warn me that it was slow but she thought I'd enjoy watching it anyway since I am a contemplative person. Obviously, I'm not as contemplative as we thought

It was quite a mental torture sitting through this movie. About five minutes into it, I could already tell that it will be moving at a super duper slow pace.
The character development was poorly done, the movie editing was choppy and my friends and I got lost along the way. "Eh, what happened to those guys who followed the hero? Where did they all disappear to suddenly?" There were just one too many long stare shots going about. Ok, ok, we get it. These two are in love. Get on with the show already lar.
And heck, we didn't even know the name of the heroine! Hmmm, maybe we were too busy rolling our eyes/yawning/prodding jestfully at each other to catch her name. When the credits began to roll, we all heaved a sigh of relief. Finally, it was over! My friend Ken suddenly piped up, "Yaay, Pocanhontas is done. Wake up, wake up, everybody. Time to go home!"
My eyes caught sight of the credits and I squealed in delight, "Ooooh, the heroine's name IS Pocahontas lar. We were actually watching her story and didn't even know it! How far out is that?" Yep, we are a bunch of blur movie-goers who burst into cinemas without doing proper research.
Ken blinked in amazement. It was darn uncanny that he got her name right when he meant it as a joke.
The movie wasn't totally a waste to me though. There were some highlights. Like the very yummy Christian Bale whom Irene thoughtfully told me to look out for. You are right, girl, he did not disappoint
And the part where the heroine realised about letting go a mirage and holding onto the real thing - I found that very nicely done and touching. Ken said that was the part where he started drifting into sweet gentle sleep. Ah well. Can't please everyone, I guess.
On a related note, maybe these people got it right. The 3-hour long Titanic in 30 seconds.
Watch it to believe it
