A few months ago, I decided to go where I've never had the courage to go before -
Foot Reflexology.
Bezzie swears by it. For years, she has been encouraging me to go and citing its healthy benefits. But I suspect that she just loved being tortured.
"It's very painful at first but after a while, you'll get used to it. In fact, you'll fall in love with it!"
It was that very statement which made me so relunctant to go for it. I hate pain. I avoid it like the plague whenever I can. Going for a foot massage is like paying to be tortured. Aiyo, no thanks.
"I'll ask them to be gentle with you. Try it lar, it's fun!" Rina said.
So after many moons of being persuaded thus and having taken leave of my senses momentarily, I finally decided to humour her and give it a go. Bezzie and I have this trend to keep things exciting in our friendship - we try new things and savour new experiences together. And if one of us is the newbie, the other will take delight in showing the ropes and watch the other person's expression in partaking the said experience.
In this case, the newbie was me. This was my expression:
Somebody, get me outta here. Youch...!
And this was the expression of my dearest bezzie. When she saw me relaxing in delight with the masseur who took care to be gentle with me, she was not satisfied.
"Eh, where got reflexology like that wan? It's not supposed to be like spa lar. Ms. Masseur, it's ok. Give it all you've got!"
What a friend, eh?
My bezzie, my torturer
Overall, it was a good experience lar. At some points I laughed because my feet felt ticklish. At other points I howled in pain when a sensitive spot was rubbed. The masseur took bezzie's advice and showed me no mercy. Gah.
I hobbled after the experience because both my feet felt so sensitive. But I doubt if I'll go there again anytime soon. Ain't no sucker for punishment. Uh huh.
