It's funny, I never knew that my dad had such high respects on my driving skills, writing skills, language skills and yakking skills until the other day when he and mom beat the kompang (brag about me) in front of my relatives.
He even commended me for my faith and service in ministry. So in a roundabout way, I get to hear his praises. Of course he would never dream of saying that to me directly. Dad is very traditional that way.
Of late, we have been relating well to each other. So well that on a few occasions, I thought he was talking to mom and ignored him, only to find out that he was actually conversing gently with me. And when he reports of the errands he ran on my behalf while I was working, I remembered to thank him every time. It's wonderful to see that smile on his face when he's rightly appreciated. I feel like we're catching up on lost time. I'm very, very grateful for this opportunity to bond with him. Thank You, Lord.
