The Kindest Thing

I was feeling a little tired and low today. I kept thinking that if only God would remind me of an instance of kindness that happened very recently, I would be cheered up. And of course, He did remind me. Someone was very kind to me today. I was the one with the very short-term memory.

The kindest thing someone did for me today was to watch the mechanic work on my very sick car like a hawk, while I rested at home. And made sure that everything was a-ok.

The kindest thing someone did for me for years was to take care of my car as his own, and remind me to take it for service when the time is due.

Thanks, dad - for your kindness and love to me. I wrote this here so that I would not ever forget. And so that I would not take you for granted again.
