Mood: Cool... finally!

Movie: Jane Eyre

My mom scares me sometimes.

I was getting ready to go out the other day. As any good mother would do, she normally appraises me before she deemed me fit to go out. I do so enjoy parading myself before her. It gives me such a gush of joy to see her eyes light up in appreciation when I put on something flattering to my face and figure. And if I put something that's not hot, she would voice out her constructive advice. "This dress makes you look chubby. Maybe you can put on something else?"

The worse thing I've heard her saying was, "You are NOT wearing that outside this house. No daughter of mine would wear those shabby jeans!"

To which I would reply, "Well then, if anyone asks, I won't admit that we are related." And give her a hug before traipsing out in those said jeans. I heed to 'chubby alerts' but I'm perfectly fine with shabby :-P

Anyway, after appraising me that day and finding my attire up to her standards, she asked where I was going.

"I'm meeting..."

"... Rina. Right?"

"Aah... yes. And we're going to Tesco and having lunch at..."

"... Secret Recipe. Right?"

I was gobsmacked. "Mom, how did you ever guess where we're having lunch at? Are you secretly clairvoyant?"

To which she just smiled knowingly, "Aah, my dear child. You forget that I had you in my womb for 9 months. I know you inside out."

And of course, I couldn't resist asking her a cheeky question about boys. True enough, she gave the correct answer on first try.

I guess this proves that moms know best. But it's darn freaky knowing that I can't hide a thing from her. Yikes.

BTW, happy birthday, Mom & bro. I love you two to pieces :-)

*I do not know how much my mom knew about me as my mom passed away when I was 16. And we never seemed to get along well. Maybe because she saw things differently.

But, one thing that you are right about is that mom does know us inside out. And that freaky to me!

*Coffee, I'm sorry to hear that you lost your mom at such a young age. When I was 16, I couldn't get along with my mom either. It was only when I started working that we began to understand and appreciate each other more and more. To my delight, I found that I am so much like my mom! And yes, it's hard to hide things from them :-P

*awww....
this entry touches me la!
I'm not really close with my mom but I would definitely want to. and reading about mother-daughter relationship really attracts me a lot. I bet you'll be a mother like your mom.

*I do not want to offend anyone. But, as far as I can remember, I never get along well with my mom. Even if she'd still alive, I doubt I can get along with her.

I'm much fond of my father instead. But, anything can happen. Maybe you're right...maybe I could get along with if she'd still alive...

But, I think I'm coping well without her because I have great young brother and sister who understands me well.

*Appreciate your honesty, Coffee. I don't think you've offended anyone :-) Yeah, what's important is we have the support of loving family members.

And if you can't get along with any of them, you just have to learn to deal with it the best way that you can. After all, you can choose friends, but you can't choose family :-P
