Chapter 1 - The Last Supper that Never Was
Girl A didn't want to see Guy B anymore. And took the pains to tell him so. Mainly because he was always busy building up his own company and they have vastly different priorities in life. Guy B seeing a good thing and didn't want to let it go, made a valiant attempt in getting back into her good graces. They went out for a meal.
"The last supper," Girl A promises herself.
"To new beginnings!" Guy B smiled happily. Here's a chance to prove himself worthy, the go-getter thought to himself. A positive believer of letting no opportunities slip by, he would do whatever it takes to get Girl A on his team. Especially when it was something that he had waited years for.
Girl A must have left her brains at home or something. The conversation inadvertently turned to B's work.
B: Well, A, you see why I have to slog so much? If I want the rewards in life, I have to put in those kind of hours.
A: If you work so hard, won't your health deteriorate?
B: Ah, but I plan to retire early.
Here's the part where A kissed her brains goodbye.
A: But if you retire early, who would take over your business?
B: (looks at A meaningfully) That's where I hope you can help me figure that one out. Hopefully, we can come up with something...
A could have slapped herself for being so stupid. Of course he meant that he would want an heir to inherit his business. What was she thinking?
With B persuading her indirectly to see things his way, she couldn't get a word in edgewise. She looked at his handsome and cheerful face and didn't have the heart to be brutal. But somehow, she has a horrid feeling that more drastic measures must be taken to ward B off.
What should Girl A do?
