A friend dragged me to a pet store today. Well, not exactly dragged lar. I went there quite willingly enough. But I knew what would happen once I reach there.
Cat-itchism, that's what.
It's that uncontrollable feeling of being so near, yet so far. And often exhibited by hard core cat lovers.
Against my better judgement, I walked towards the area where the cats are kept on display. Ragdoll kittens, siamese kittens and other adorable looking cats were viewable through the glass window.
I stretched out my hand and touched the window containing two cute kittens with big, helpless eyes. Immediately, one of the kitties traipsed joyfully towards my hand and pressed its dear head against the window.
Awwwwww.
And that's when cat-itchism hit me. I looked at that dratted glass window balefully. It was all that's separating me from cuddling that affectionate kitten and making both our days.
It reminded me of days long gone when I always had a cat to warm my lap whenever I flop on the sofa. Argggggh!
There's really no cure for it, but to get regular dosages of cat cuddling time at friend's places or friendlier pet stores which allow the animals to be touched. The thing is, most of my friends generally have dogs as pets. And not very friendly ones at that.
Ah well. I guess I'll just have to avoid window browsing in pet stores for now. That should keep my disease well under control.
Updates:
Well, dunno if this is a cure or deterrent to my 'healing'. But I stumbled upon this precious
site which features cats with stuff on them. The pic below is just a sampler of the many more contained in that site.
Cat with vices. Bad, bad kitty.
