Me and Fred

My colleague Fred was walking lovingly hand in hand with his girlfriend in a shopping mall one day when a vision of me suddenly appeared in his mind. Now Fred is someone who is absolutely down-to-earth and totally in love with his girlfriend, so what triggered him to think of cheeky me?

So happens that the shop they were passing through was playing the song Can't Fight This Feeling by Reo Speedwagon, which happened to be my then current ringtone.

"CC, you've spoilt the song for me lar. I used to enjoy listening to it but now everytime it plays, I think of you!" Fred complained to me a few weeks later. After my ringtone was changed to something else more hip.

It didn't help matters to know that I would be forever associated with that Ah Beng song. Once branded, your ringtone personality is sealed.

But Fred's a fine one to talk. He has this habit of going off and leaving his phone to ring on his desk. And his ringtone is irritating. So irritating that whenever it rings, everyone around would cringe and even my colleague who was formerly known as Shark would threaten to throw the phone into the deep blue sea.

I'm not sure what ringtones say about personality. But if it does say something, then I guess I have a bit of an Ah Lian in me. Heh.
