Two Crazy Girls in Phuket - Day 1

The Jakun in KLIA

We took heaps of pics even at the KLIA airport and in the plane. I just realised that after all my travels, I never took one single pic in a plane. I just laughed at those jakun people who took pics of themselves in the plane before. Now I join the jakun tribe.

We Ate Worms!

Upon arrival at the Phuket airport, we were greeted by a very nice and friendly local tour operator called Sally. She was a Chinese Thai lass and reminded us so much of Esther that we just had to take her photo.

With Sally, our tour guide

We stopped at a few places before we reached our hotel in Patong towards the evening. We visited the tit bits store where a galore of exotic tit bits are available - free tasting, too! And this is where we had our very first taste of fried worms. Now whenever Rina and I go on holiday, we have this unspoken rule to be more adventurous than usual. Hence, the worm tasting. They tasted crispy and bland. Very high in protein content. But we didn't buy them. Wouldn't want to be munching on worms while vegging in front of the tv. Bleargh.

Take a break, have a fried worm

Besides worms, they also have other very delicious tit bits like spicy sotong, and even stuff that resembles and are called kau sai (dog shit).

Kau Sai is made of pork floss but looks like some kinda dung. Yummylicious!

I cuddled an elephant!

We visited the shooting range which also houses the elephant sanctuary. We fed the elephants and some of the guys from the tour even took the elephant ride.

The elephant is a gentle and peaceful soul. Hard skin but quite huggable

The Truth About Cats and Dogs

When they stopped at the temple grounds of Wat Chalong, Rina and I made a pit stop. Hehe. After that, I took some pics of this very strange phenomenon. Cats and dogs actually could get along here. They are also very affectionate towards me. I felt like I was in animal heaven!

After those stops, we were taken to a viewpoint where we could see three lovely beaches from afar (including Kata beach) and observe the magnificent sunset.

Then we had a quick shower before going off for a Thai massage. It was my first Thai massage and it was a disappointment. I suppose it was because we were massaged while wearing their pajamas. There was no actual contact with the masseur's fingers. Next time, we know better. Go for the Thai oil massage.

Stay tuned for Day 2.

*Hee, you should try the worm at least once, Greenapple. Gosh, I can start a chain of stores selling 'I ate the worm and lived to tell the tale!'

*I have a few questions...

1. what you mean "massage while wearing their pajamas"?

2. you mean.. you wore their pajamas while they massaged you?

3. what's a massage without contact with massuer's fingers?

pls explain more... :-)

*Answers:

1. They provide clean pajamas for clients to wear. It looks somewhat like a prisoner's uniform.

2. Yep, one is fully clothed in those pajamas throughout the massage.

3. Because one is fully clothed, the masseur's fingers do not directly touch your shoulder blades nor back for a more ooomph kinda massage.

So not that syiok lor :-P

*Ah-so des neh.. now I understand..

but.. really.. what is a massage without the theraphy of touch.. that's the whole idea of massage...

You realise it's not just the physical aspect of releasing the muscle stress, but also the connected-ness with the person.. but then again... are they transfering any "spirit" to you ? :-O

aiyor.. again.. too deep for a morning like this..

as for the dog droppings.. hmm.. i wonder if pornthip sea store pays the dog for it.. maybe that's why the dogs gets along well with the cats...? check out if the cats are also earning and cash.. ;-)
