What Girl Friends Do

Here's something to entertain you guys while I'm away enjoying myself in Phuket. Right about now, God willing, I'd be somewhere near Phi Phi Island.

I was having lunch with my bro the other day at Section 17, PJ. Guzzled a very delicious plate of Hokkien Mee. After that, I bought some 3-in-1 coffee. New brand. The shop fella said:
Very nice tasting wan.

And then he gazed at me for a while with a funny look on his face.

As vain as I am, I do not translate every look I receive as a look of admiration or a broad hint to 'Kiss me quick!'. Now, this look was a strange type of look.

So anyway, we got into the car, I drove back to the office and I happened to glance myself in the rear view mirror. Egads! What's that brown gravy stain doing on my lips??

I turned to ask my bro as I wiped the dratted stain away, "Why didn't you tell me I had that on my lips? No wonder the shop keeper gave me a funny look just now!"

"Sorry wor, I didn't notice," was his reply.

Sigh Brothers!

A good girl friend would have some signals handy when there's something amiss with her friend's appearance. These are some of the codes that me and my girl pals abide by. They are discretely done so that their friends don't get embarrassed in public.

"Kuey Teow alert" - Her bra strap is showing when it's not meant to be.
"Sunday longer than Monday" - Her petticoat is showing.
"Smoke gets in your eyes" - Her eyeliner has smudged, making her look like a Panda.
"Fry an egg" - There's enough oil on her face to cook an egg. Time to blot, blot, blot!
"Stuck on toothy" - There's lipstick or food stuck on her teeth.

I'm sure there are many more alert terms for the many fashion mishaps that can occur on a day out with a girl. But if you can't for the life of you remember those codes, just use some hand signals as inconspicuously as possible.

That's what a good friend would do for each other.

*Hey, I like those codes. Never heard of them, but they're cute! Thanks, I've learned something today, from your blog!

The cutest code that I'm aware of, were the codes in 'The Wedding Planner'. At the beginning of the show, J Lo said 'the f.o.b went m.i.a', something like that .. I was laughing so hard. I thought that was hilarious.
