Girl Talk

Rina and I were sitting down and yakking away when her sister Lillian came sauntering in with a glass of Coke in her hands.

"Girl talk ah?" she asked. When we nodded, she smiled gleefully and plopped herself down in front of us. "Oh goodie, I love girl talk!"

The three of us then spent the next couple of minutes looking and smiling politely at each other.

Lillian looked balefully at us, "Eh, talk lar. Why so quiet wan?"

"Cannot! You must share first mar," Rina said.

"Yeah, you must share your story first and then only we share ours," I said in support.

So Lillian thought for a while and finally said conversationally, "Hey, do you know that my dog was sick two days ago? I had to bring it to the vet and..."

"And it peed in your car and now your car smells like a stink bomb," I finished. "Yeah, I know. And that hardly qualifies as girl talk!"

"Yalor, so boring wan. Not juicy at all!" Rina rolled her eyes.

"Oi, I already shared the most interesting that happened to me this week. Now share yours," she said.

"Cannot. Not fair. Dowan," both of us said as we crossed our arms.

The three of us looked at each other silently again.

Now for all our chatterbox tendencies, Rina and I could be very, very silent if we want to. Finally, Lillian couldn't stand the silence anymore.

"Arrgggh, ok lar, ok lar. I share, I share!"

And thus began a fun time of sharing a few of the most mind-boggling mysteries of our lives. But it cannot kickstart without the participants being willing to share and in turn, listen to the other participants' sharing. There is an air of respect, non-judgementalism and equal airtime being given to all to share.

And that, in a very brief gist, is what girl talk is all about.

*Mark, I kinda like guy talk myself :-P

Jimmeh, yep, girl talk is normally sharing your thoughts and feelings about things and your other girl friends will give their perspectives and encourage you in whatever way they can. Assasinating other peoples' reputation is a no-no.

*Don't forget; "Loose lips sink ships."

As long as you're not ruining someone's reputation or marriage I guess it's OK.
