BT and I visited
Traveller's Cafe recently after a fruitful trip to Borders (no,
Mr. Magnet was sadly not there anymore... sigh):
The Ambiance
The ambiance was nice and cosy. The lighting was dim and orangey. Thus, I couldn't use my favourite underwater mode for the photos. Speaking of photos, I nearly forgotten about taking them in the first place - I was starving and couldn't wait to dig into the tapas we had for starters. Good thing BT reminded me to whip out my camera.
Right next my cosy and plush seat were book racks filled with travel books and magazines. The television facing the counter was tuned to the Travel Channel on Astro. There were three clocks showing different times in three different parts of the world. They were true to their theme, alright.
The Foodies
Now, onto the foodies. We had the Grilled Prawns Tapas with rich sauce and it was really good. There were heaps of prawns to go between the two of us. The bread looked and tasted like naan and the rich sauce was aptly named - being spicy, savoury and tingling to our taste buds. You can choose to dip the naan into the sauce or place the naans on the plates provided and pour the gravy and prawns upon it. Lovely.
The half-eaten tapas. I whipped out my camera a tad too late... heh.
BT had grilled salmon on pasta and the salmon was tenderlicious and juicy. I highly recommend it. Man, I can still remember how heavenly it tasted... Mmmmm.
I had the lamb steak and was disappointed to find it overcooked. The meat was tough to chew on. Aisey, I regretted not getting the salmon dish. The side dishes that accompanied the lamb were good though. The vegetables and potatoes tasted great.
I had the house coffee which was specially brewed by Andre, one of the cafe owners. It was superb - rich and exquisite tasting. It also kept me wide awake until early the next morning. Coffee however, had a different effect on BT. Apparently, it makes him drowsy. So he had some orange pineapple fizzy drink instead.
Conclusion
Overall, it was a great place to hang out for a chat and quiet dinner. The tapas are apparently one of their hot signature dishes so be sure not to miss out on them AND the salmon. Check out their
website for more pics of the cosy decor and the menu.
The Traveller's Cafe is located at The Place, Damansara Perdana. It is opened for lunch and dinner from Mondays to Saturdays.
