The first indication I had that something was afoot was when I arrived late for my MAG (Mentoring & Accountability Group) meeting.
Not one of the normally strict time-keeping members said a word about me coming late.
Then we proceeded to one of my all-time favourite Chinese restaurants - Bee Hwa where they serve the most crunchy and delectable Kai Lan vegetables and to-die-for Loh Mee. I was too busy attacking the foodies to take any pics of them, sorry ah.
When we were deciding on what to order, Kat let the cat out of the bag by asking me:
What does the birthday girl want to eat?
Aha. No wonder lar they were extra nice to me.
Anyway, the dinner was superb, I enjoyed myself tremendously and I think they did, too judging by the rate we left all the platter clean. After dinner, we headed to Kat's house where Grace facilitated a discussion on conscience - to which we all had something to contribute. Incidences where our conscience if left unguarded can be seared. And how easily we can rationalise or justify things so that we don't feel too guilty about them.
During the break when Kat was walking in and out to make Kopi O (besides other things as I found out later!), I began snapping some photos insidiously:
of Grace and Jude
of Ruth, our MAG leader
of Kat being relaxed in her domain
and then as I was busy snapping the pics, yet another surprise made its appearance. Kat came out with a very cute cake. Check it out!
The cutest cake I've ever seen!
Since they all know me so well, I announced my birthday wish loudly to them to which they all said a hearty, 'Amen!'
Blossom (Kat's family dog) also wished me a happy belated birthday in her own sweet way.
Isn't she lovely? It's like I'm holding a puff of cloud!
We even smile the same way... well, almost.
Thanks, MAGers for these wonderful surprises all wrapped and presented in tiny packages. Most of all, thanks for being there whenever I needed support and guidance. I love you all.
