One of Those Days

image
Yesterday, I just had one of those days where I felt bluesy and dreamy, words failed me and the creative juices were bursting to the seams. Ever experienced anything like that before?

Anyway, I was oozing to do some form of scrapbooking. But I lacked the materials to do so. My printer had just ran out of ink. And getting my hands dirty with glue and all doesn't fancy me.

So what's a girl to do when she's juiced up creatively?

She resorts to digital scrapbooking.

I've been wanting to post an entry about the comments from some folks when they didn't believe that I was a serious kid in the past. But somehow, I couldn't think of the words to do so. Plus I wanted to put some old pictures as testament to the fact that I was indeed serious.

Thought of doing it as a scrapbook project. Wanted to ask Weisguy if he could snap my pic professionally or not.

But in the end, I got some ideas on the webby on how to do it using Photoshop and similar kinds of software. Took some old photos and snapped them with my digital camera. Saw a good recent one taken by Rina. And hey presto, my first ever digital scrapbook was ready and I published it here.

Of course, it's a boon to hear favourable comments from my blog readers, family and friends. But the satisfaction and euphoria of creating something so beautiful and timeless in just under 1 hour or so was tremendous.

At that moment, I felt that if I, a hopeless painter can produce something like this, then I can do anything that I set my heart out to do.
There was another time, about a couple of years back when I was feeling depressed and creative. I got me some water colors, brushes and a drawing pad, a book on watercolor painting and painted a picture of sunflowers (refer to pic at the top left corner). That process took about 30 minutes. And it was the best painting I have ever done. Note that I was very bad in painting at school. Most probably because I didn't know the right techniques then. But those sunflowers cheered me up real good. At that moment, I felt that if I, a hopeless painter can produce something like this, then I can do anything that I set my heart out to do. What a wow factor.

Truly, there's nothing like creating beauty out of ashes. Very fulfilling. Very therapeutic.

I just might do this again.

*Hehe. I like sunflowers. Always give me the feeling that the world is so bright and full of energy. Thanks.

*You're welcomed :-) I love sunflowers because they look like they are bursting with joy and there is a sense of wholesomeness on their heavy heads.

*I could imagine those sunflowers hanging in a gallery somewhere! Very well done!

*Wow, really? I've always imagined myself sitting on a cliff somewhere, with wind blowing everywhere and me painting the landscape. Hope that dream comes true someday :-P

*Y'know, I've had a similar fantasy for a long time.

ABOUT ME I MEAN! whew (That was almost bad...)

But speaking of you, picture this:
You sitting on the very edge of the cliff, legs over the edge as if you were in a chair, both hands on the edge of the cliff on either side of you, propping you up, wearing a White dress with one large sunflower on the front, (or a yellow daisy on your ear) the wind blowing gently and your hair just a little in your face, looking at something slightly lower than you are and slightly to the side, not smiling but with just a peaceful, expressionless look.
Sunny day of course, and the shot comes from in front of you, off the cliff somewhere.

OR

The same thing but with you looking down and a telescopic shot up from the ground.

(O man, talk about sounding like a stalker...) I promise I just get those creative moments too, that's all!

(Your idea would be a nice paintng too though!)

*Talk about the different types of stalkers here. The pincher and now, the painter. Hee hee! But your idea sounds serene and pictureque. Haven't tried doing portraits yet though. Might give it a go!

*Ariel, I think you are definitely getting a lot of stalker attention here. Not worried at all?

*Right now, I'm too high on caffeine to be afraid. Hic!

:-D

*Awesome, girl. I can't paint like that! Sunflowers have a special place in my heart too. I once likened myself to one:

*I love that sunflower story, Irene! You paint a picture with your words already :-)

*Hehe... painting with words and painting with colours different mah :-) I've always wanted to be able to sketch and paint. Hmmm, maybe time to take art classes!
