MacGyver

I was handing two 1 ringgit notes over the cashier at Cold Storage yesterday when one of them fell into the gap between the cashier counter and me.

"Once the money goes in, it doesn't come out," the cashier said in a matter-of-fact way.

"Someone should seal this thing instead of leaving it as a trap for money!" I said and peered into the gap. I could see my poor ringgit lying uncomfortably in the horrid gap. It was surrounded by quite a number of coins as well.
Money is money, so I stretched my hand into the gap.

Money is money, so I stretched my hand into the gap. Aiyo, at the thickest part of my arm (3/4 way) I got stuck. My fingers could barely brush the note. The cashier gave me a plastic butter knife to extend my fingers further but that only succeeded in pushing the money further away from me.

The cashier called some staff to help. Two brawny looking men appeared and I looked at them incredulously. Goodness. The arm of the bigger guy of the two was at least twice as thick as mine. How to put it into the gap? They tried to anyway and got stuck at the very top of the gap. But I appreciated their efforts anyway. It makes a difference when the staff tries to help their customers in any way they can.

"Never mind lar, it's just RM1. Luckily not RM50!" I told Rina and paid for my orange juice with a fresh RM1 note.

The enterprising girl was chewing on some gum and asked, "What if you put my chewing gum on the end of this plastic butter knife? Do you think you can reach into the gap with this contraption? Most importantly, do you mind having a wad of gum stucked to your money?"

My eyes shone at her ingenuity, "You are brilliant, girl! I don't mind, really. Money is money. Its value doesn't change even if it's all goeey. Let's give it a try."

And thus, we proceeded as per Rina's idea and the note stucked dutifully to the gummy plastic knife and came to surface accompanied by our joyous cries.

Everyone involved in the rescue operation gave broad grins at us. And I thanked the cashier and the others for their help.
A bezzie's heart cares for their friend's welfare and property as if it were their own

Most of all, I'd like to thank my bezzie for being more concerned about my money than I am. I guess, that's what bezzies are made of - a heart that cares for their friend's welfare and property as if it were their own . Thanks, girl. I don't know what I'll do without you hugs

*Trying out something that will help my not-so-regular blog readers understand who I'm talking about in my entries. It's still very much works-in-progress so ignore it for the time being.

*After my exposure to cosmic radiation during space travel, I found that I could stretch my body parts into any configuration, so now I can just reach into tiny crevices with my hand and retrieve money!

Anyway...out of curiosity, when is your birthday?
