The Disaster Waiting to Happen Happened

My brother greeted me just now when I came back with a "You wouldn't believe what just happened! The North Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) flyover collasped on the highway."

Oh my goodness. We used that highway just this morning. It could have dropped on us!

They started building a couple of flyovers over the NKVE highway recently. Both perched rather precariously across the highway and looking like huge see-saws.

My brother upon sighting them for the first time commented that one day, that thing might just topple over the road and cause some serious damage.

And today it did. We heard over the TV news that about 10 construction workers were injured and a motorist who heard the loud crash behind and turned to look in horror, lost his/her bearings and crashed into the divider. As far as we know at this point in time, there were no fatalities. Thank God for that.

Disasters waiting to happen. Grrrrrr.... it irks me to hear of such things. If people like my bro could see it, why couldn't the builders do something to prevent it from happening? Grrrrrr.....!

Updates:

1. Nine Injured in Flyover Collapse - The figures we heard from the tv and The Star does not tally. But that should be sorted out by tomorrow.

2. Donald Worried No More - Before and after pics of that bridge and a letter from a concerned reader.

*Hey there dt :-) I wished it wasn't serious but unfortunately, it did happen. Yeah, what 'technology' indeed. Grrrrrr...

*hmmm, can't blame the technology actually, but rather people who supervise it.

*If the policy doesn't, it should be revamped.

You take care, dt :-)

*Hahaha and it shall be called the 'London Bridge' clause.

Laughter aside, good thing there is not fatality.
