If I Could Ever Turn Back The Clock...

Came across this blog of a wonderful family I got to know during my Fraser's trip. This poem is written by the dad and boy, it's just soo touchingly good.

To Sarah & Seth,

If I could ever turn back the clock, so as to raise you again,

I'd carry you as much as I can then, and hold your hand as much as you allow
I'd feed you as much as a baby then and lead you as much as an adult now,
I'd walk straight in my path so that you'd walk straight in your path later
I'd camp under the dark skies without a tent, but with you looking up,
I'd shut all phones and emails then, and talk with you then & now,
I'd be more focused and purpose driven then being foolishly led,
I'd rather be silly with you then being smart in front of people,
I'd take my eyes off my watch, and watch you with my eyes,
I'd ride bicycles in the mid-noon, then taking short naps,
I'd write poems like this instead of reading newspapers,
I'd do less complaining, and more complimenting you,
I'd care less of distractions and care more for you
I'd be both firm and yet affirm you evenmore,
I'd do less correcting, and more connecting,
I'd do daily and leading family devotions,
I'd love you more now and forever,
I'd take hold of the short window,
that's left for daddy-child time.
So today, please forgive me,
& allow me to love you
& to start all over
again, Daddy

My favourite part is the bit about being silly in front of the kids than being smart in front of other people. I think when kids see that their parents can laugh at themselves and be goofy, they will be able to accept themselves as they are, warts and all.

"I'm not ok,
You're not ok,
But hey, that's ok!"

*It is indeed touching..
We have our preceeding generation actually setting the pace and bar for us. Let us not falter and to remember what it is that is important is the here and now. Live today for a successful tomorrow. Making every moment count so that it impacts and changes the next generation. Thanks CC for the poem..

These 2 kids are so blessed to have a father like him.. Let's pray that we make the best with whatever time we have left.

*Hi IB :-) Yeah, each life example of fatherly love is also a reminder that I should spend time connecting with my dad. May our bonds with them grow stronger and sweeter as the days go by.

Hee, glad to know that this poem has touched your hearts as it did mine :-)
