Adam and the Beast

Had a real bad day today. But nothing a caring phone call and the company of my MAGers (and dog) can't cure :-)

Tonight was my turn to share about a chapter about the designer label (God's image) that we carry in our beings from this book. Especially had fun with this part of the sharing about Adam's transition from relating with just God and animals, to relating with another human being.

"See, the last thing that Adam saw before he slept was say, a zebra. And the first thing he saw when he woke up was Eve. Imagine that! Finally, someone who can relate to him as an equal, and suitable in every way."

Don't get me wrong. I love animals. Couldn't imagine going through my childhood without a cat constantly by my side. To me, they are a reminder of God's warm love and constant presence.

But it's kinda sad when I meet people who can relate to animals better than humans.

One energetic retiree (who has been divorced for quite a number of years) I knew kept his house packed with animals. At one point, he had 5 cats, 2 dogs, a couple of birds and a small fish tank. The minute you enter the house, you can kinda get a strong whiff of animal scent.

I asked, "Uncle, why do you surround yourself with so many pets?"

He replied, "Because they don't talk back."

Well, he did look happy to me most of the time, so who am I to say otherwise?

Still, if I had to choose between animals or humans, I'd rather go for friends who can speak the same language. Even if they have the tendency to 'talk back'. That's the risk you take in reaching out to connect with someone.

Rina once said that someday, she and I may have a major disagreement or fallout. But if and when it happens, it'll be ok and we'll be ok because that's just part and parcel of being friends. Heh, so far so good lar :-P

But if I can have both a cat and human friends, even better :-)

*Cats Don't Talk Back.. They CLAW! grin he he he.. just kidding.

One of the points in Purpose Driven Life, is "We were created for Fellowship" and it is most definitely His Divine purpose for us. Created in His image we are, and one in Love we also are..*hmmmm*

Like the Lord is 3 persons in 1, symbolises that Unity & Fellowship, we too were created for that purpose, to work towards Unity & Fellowship.

If I may be so bold, the Church of Jesus Christ, should be the embodiment Unity and Fellowship to be shown and examplified to a broken world.

Still we're human and imperfect, and we can only rely on God who is perfect. Together with God we can.

*Well, the sad thing is, unity is one of Jesus' unanswered prayers. And sometimes, to maintain peace, one has to tolerate a little discord. You can't please everybody.
