Divine Appointment

I believe in divine appointments. Where God places the right person at the right place and the right time to encourage you and remind you of His love.

At yesterday's wedding, Vivien was one such person. She has recently joined a marketplace ministry organisation as a part-time worker and will be going on a full-time basis in the near future.

I was impressed with her courage to do something that was so different from what she was trained for and making that move after quite a few years of working.

"Wow, must be nice to be doing something fulfilling for your work," I commented.

She looked at me thoughtfully, "Well, the thing that this marketplace ministry has revealed to me was that all work is meaningful. No matter where you are working or what position you are in, there is where your fulfillment should come from."

As I continued to listen in rapt attention to what she was saying, I felt something in me coming alive. I guess I had become jaded in my workplace and feeling like I don't matter there.

"Prayer works," Viv said. "Even a simple one-liner prayer uttered every morning will change the whole situation. No matter how hopeless or impossible it seems."

She shared about how praying for her previous working environment changed the bosses' attitudes towards her and how things took a turn for the better in her company.

"At that time, I didn't realise what was happening. Only when I reflected back recently on what happened did I notice that things changed for the better when I started upholding the situation to God's hands."

I felt recharged and deeply encouraged by her quiet sharing, and thanked her for it. It was something I really needed to hear. To pray faithfully for my company, for the current situation to turn around.

Divine appointments. It's just a matter of being at the right place and at the right time :-)

*Haha... and Vivien is my senior from Youth Group too :-P

Ya, we went out for dinner one night about two months ago and she shared the same thing with me. What she said about praying for your boss & your company really convicted me. (That doesn't mean I've been praying... but I do feel like I should!)
