Stephen kissed the bride passionately while Pr MH looks on cheekily. Pr was the one who encouraged him to kiss with, "Stephen, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do!"
I love wedding ceremonies (after discounting the stress of finding something to wear!). Been fortunate to attend two very meaningful ones in the space of six months.
Today is the day Stephen married his college sweetheart, LW. I've known Stephen through the Punctuations ministry for a few years now and he's always been gamed for a joke or two and to help out whenever he can. Nice guy.
I think you can learn something about a couple through their wedding ceremony. This one was marked with the atmosphere of joy, exuberance, thankfulness and openness. Traits that the endearing couple shared. The minute the ceremony started, I felt the strong and sweet presence of God in our midst. It was like He was beaming down upon them, giving His blessings upon their union.
In his speech to thank his pre-marital counsellors, Stephen openly expressed his gratefulness to their commitment to help LW and him pull through the many problems that they faced in their relationship. With the love, advice and support of this experienced couple, the newlyweds were able to learn how to love each other better and overcome their problems bit by bit.
I was touched. By his openness. By the hope that they give to every couple with problems out there. In beautiful weddings such as this, one can temporarily forget that relationships take work, too and nothing good comes easy.
Pr MH's message was simply beautiful. He shared about the 3 H's that Stephen needs to remember and inculcate in his married life.
1. Help - To enter marriage with an attitude of a giver, rather than a taker.
2. Heat - (Pr's personal favourite) To help each other keep warm
3. Hold - To be each other's defender and protector
Wedding Ceremony Scripture: Ecclesiastes 4:9-12
9 Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their work:
10 If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
11 Also, if two lie down together, they will keep warm.
But how can one keep warm alone?
12 Though one may be overpowered,
two can defend themselves.
A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.
Congratulations, Ah Kong and LW! May God's sweetest blessings shower upon the two of you as you begin this journey of life together
