It's Not That Crappy After All

Last Friday was quite a rough day for me. The whole day was filled with tension and stress. At the end of the day, I walked to my car. Lo and behold, a bird left a big souvenir on my car's side window.

"Great, what a fitting end to a crappy day!" I thought resignedly and got into my car wearily. Was too zonked to even feel irritated.

Started my car. Checked the fuel level as any good Malaysian driver would. Aiyo, the indicator was hovering dangerously near 'Empty'.

The thought of pulling over a petrol kiosk and filling my tank seemed overwhelming to my tired mind. Dare I risk driving all the way back home with a nearly empty tank? What if I got stuck in an unexpected jam?

To stop or not to stop, that was the question.

Sanity won the battle and I pulled over into the Shell station dutifully.

Immediately, two men came over to help me. One came bearing a credit card reader, saving me a trip to the payment counter. Wah, it's the first time I've seen such a gadget. He filled my car tank to the brim and processed my payment.

The other man who was elderly, cheerfully asked me if he could clean my windscreen. Being a regular there, I recognised him and returned his smile. So there they were, two people going out of their way to make my stop a pleasant one.

At the corner of my eye, I saw the elderly man completed cleaning my car's back window and was about to go to my windscreen when he caught sight of the big white blob the bird deposited on the side window. Never hesitating, he very carefully wiped away every single trace of the mess.

I just stood there, unable to take my eyes off him. A sharp and warm feeling invaded my heart. After everything was done, I thanked both men and got into the car. I felt like a different person. Touched by an unexpected reminder of my heavenly Father's love to me.

Crappy beginnings, happy endings.

I'm lovin' it :-)

*Hi TV! Heheheh, good luck, eh? Now that you mentioned it, I recall hearing that before. Might be interesting to know what kinda person would make that sort of connection with bird poo ;-)

*In some circles, getting crapped on by a bird is considered good luck. Seems to contradict the phrase "shit out of luck" though :-)

Nice ending.
