You Know You Are ...

... you are not a member of Friendster.

Finally, at the constant insistence of my youth cell group members, I joined the Friendster throng. And promptly felt like a fish out of water.

Almost every one there are below 24 and it took a while to understand their lingo. My youthful friends have at least 100 people on their friends list and write testimonials for each one of them. Goodness, they actually have the time to keep in touch with that many folks?

One thing in common that they have is the way they pose for their self-shot photos. They either stare at the camera blankly or avert their eyes in an artistic pose. Not being very artistic when it comes to photo shoots, this was the photo I chose for my profile. Note that this was taken with Ping, my cute niece who dropped by for a visit today. I think I chose it as a statement that I'm not from the Britney generation and to please understand if I can't "youth-speak" that fluently yet.

Due to the possibility of pervs checking out Friendster, I've decided to replace my cute niece's pic with this instead. We are kinda cute but not so easily kidnapped



Try to spot the turtles!


Me circulating in Friendster is akin to an old sea turtle swimming in a pool filled with colourful and young sea creatures. I felt like an old fogey. But old fogey or not, I must move on with the times and be in touch with what's happening in the lives of my young friends.

Not even 30 and already feeling the generation gap. I shudder to think of what it would be like when I'm pushing 40 and beyond.
