A Woman of Worth [Part 1]

On Sunday, I dragged my feet to church to attend the Women of Worth conference (WOW for short). I've never attended an all-woman's conference before and frankly, couldn't see what the fuss was all about. Mei Fong strongly encouraged me to go for this one and even signed up for me.

"Why should I go?" I asked petulantly.

"Because it's good for you. The one last year helped me resolved some issues," she said.

"I am not aware of having any womanly issues lah. Look, I know I am a woman. I'm delighted to be a woman. Really. So I don't see the point in going. Besides, it means having to take leave on Monday and I can't afford to take time off work."

I was about to continue my well-justified tirade when I felt that I should at least say a quick silent prayer and ask God if He wants me to go. I immediately felt something stirring in my heart. Like the sweet gentle voice of God giving me the assurance that it's good for me to go.

Wow. Prayers normally don't get answered so quick and I immediately shut my mouth before I could think of another excuse of 'Why Ariel Need Not Go to The Women's Conference' and said, "Ok, sign me up."

Mei Fong just gave me a knowing smile and an affirmative nod.
