No More Black :(

I love to wear black-coloured clothes. It's not my favourite color, but I like it for the following practical reasons:

  • It's slimming
  • I can eat anything I want without stopping to think if a messy encounter will stain my clothes. More so when chicken curry happens to be my favourite food
  • It's slimming
  • It's a professional color
  • It's slimming
  • It goes well with all my bags and accessories
  • It's slimming

As you can tell, the numero uno reason for me wearing black is that it is so flattering to the figure especially when you have bulges to hide.

So I happily donned on a black outfit over the weekend and bumped into a friend who hasn't seen me in a couple of months.

"Eeeks, you've lost weight!" she looked horrified.

I was genuinely puzzled, "What do you mean I lost weight? I still weigh the same as the last time I saw you."

"No lah, you looked much better then. Now you've... you've... gone skinny!" she grimaced.

I recalled that another friend had commented that I don't look great in a black dress I wore to a wedding dinner recently. Then it dawned upon me that the weight that I lost during the hectic production days has now caused me to resemble a beanstalk whenever I wear something totally black. I now understand why a waif-like friend of mine doesn't have a single black garment in her wardrobe.

Today, I decided to put my new-found theory into test. Instead of a black or grey jacket, I wore a pastel pink one to work. I have never worn that before although I had it for quite a few years now. The reactions of my boss and colleagues were very, very flattering.

"Wow, looking good today!" said one male colleague.

"It's a very nice jacket," said my boss (first time ever being complimented by him on my dressing!).

"Ooooh, style sebiji macam Audrey Hepburn!" said another lady colleague.
(Translation: "Your style really resembles that of Audrey Hepburn!")

That does it.

From now on, I will minimise on wearing black stuff and choose brighter or pastel shades instead. But I won't throw away my precious black clothes. Who knows when the bulges decide to start appearing again?

*Tradionally speaking, CNY doesn't allow black attire anyway. So will have to be careful while eating these days ;-)

*Vagus, alas my new camera is not here yet and won't be here in time for Chinese New Year photo snaps :-(

Paul, I think I've misplaced the CD :-( Can you mail me that pic so that I can vet thru it first? See whether it's decent or not!

Awwww, thanks Irene huggies Gosh, yeah... now that you mentioned it, I'm always clad in something sombre whenever we meet, right? But it doesn't always reflect the way I feel. It's great knowing that you are dressing fantastic today, just because. Not for a meeting or an appointment but just because... :-)

*Hahahahah! Good one, Vagus :-D

Yeah, am getting a digital camera, Canon A400 to be exact. It's not an amazing camera but it's better than nothing. I feel so handicapped without one to snap my daily sightings with :-(

*3.2 megapixels. Should be good enough. Canon's a pretty good camera.
Know what you mean about taking pictures. Took over 200 in my last month in AZ.

*Nope, had my laptop with me then, so i kept uploading my pics to the laptop. My xD only 128mb although me thinks that's more than sufficient. Never really had to go higher than 3 megapixel resolution.
You've been to my blog? Shy... :-P
#13 Anonymous on 2005-02-03 17:50 (Reply)
*What camera do you use, Vagus? You have a nice blog - no need to be shy wan :-D

*I use a Fuji S5000. Have been very happy with the lens thus far, and the 10x optical zoom. Plus i get a lot of manual control with the camera if i so choose.
Nolar. My blog kinda started off not for public sharing, but more for me to whine, complain and cry about work :-)
#16 Anonymous on 2005-02-03 23:37 (Reply)
*Wow! From clothes to camera! The only thing that's common is that both start with 'C'. By the way, you look fine just the way you are, coolcats.
#17 Anonymous on 2005-02-04 06:41 (Reply)
*Your Fuji S5000 sounds like a real good deal, Vagus. You don't really need more than 3.2 megapixel for a nice pic but the 10x optical zoom certainly helps a lot in getting great close-ups - like my friend who likes to take close-up shots of people unawares.

Your blog does read like a typical doctor's journal. Now, a nurse's journal would be different, I would think. Probably more like Cherry Ames' books.

Paul, maybe you can load Vagus' camera when he comes back for a visit. LOTR bedsheets indeed :-) Featuring the Golum ah? Or... Arwen?? :-D

Thanks, Jo huggies You've been looking really cool and sporty these days. Love the vibrant look!
#18 Anonymous on 2005-02-04 11:31 (Reply)
*It's one of those old LOTR Bedsheets.. featuring a lot of the characters from an Old Animated version of LOTR. Never got to watch it. But LOTR Memorablia.. why not huh?

Mom would kill me if I made it part of my room wall. ha ha ha

Vagus as I keep saying your Journal inspires me, that you get to touch ppls hearts (literally and un-literally) each day... corn juice working again ;-)
