On First Loves

Q: What's your definition of 'first love', Dr. Love?
A: For most people, it is their first boyfriend or girlfriend. But to me, it's the person who first made the deepest impact and connection in my heart. Someone whom my heart recognised as my soul mate.

Q: Why is it hard to forget our first loves?
A: When our hearts were first awakened by true love, the impact is very powerful and virtually unforgettable. It's the moment when we realised that we truly love someone more than ourselves and would do anything for them. Can anything beat that?

The very sight, nay, presence of them in the same room could turn your heartbeats akin to running a 100-metre dash in a matter of seconds. It's the strangest kind of disease to ever afflict you... for the first time. And the worst part is, there is no cure for this disease. Time doesn't cure it - it will just lull you into thinking that you are finally over it but when you least expect it, the disease will make a comeback.

Q: So, will people eventually forget their first loves?
A: Going by the above answer, no. People do move on, but they don't really forget. Ever.

*First love... sigh

How true Dr Love... you can't ever forget that first ever person that impacted your life...

And it's sad that sometimes things just never worked out because you met them too early or the circumstances actually didn't permit. You will always remember them as the one that really really got away.

I was privileged to meet my soul mate at the age 15, but we could never have got together, she was always so far away. But she was my first love. Even if we never did start a relationship. Maybe I should leave a blog on this... :-)

*If your first real relationship with someone you really loved ended, i think you'd regard the whole thing in the same way you'd give importance to your first kiss. It (the first kiss) is exciting and fun but at the same time awkward. The first love is like that. When you try to remember it, it's painful, awkward and fun because of the memories you have attached to the relationship and to the person.
