My Case for Moving Out

After talking to Karen, I mulled over the issue of moving out myself and decided to spring the question to my mom.

When I reached home, I found my mom busy at the ironing board.

"Mom, what do you think about me moving out?" I asked casually.

She stopped ironing and looked at me, "Why are you asking this all of a sudden? Who have you been talking to?"

Smart woman.

"Errr... I just wanted to know, that's all," I said evasively.

Mom went quiet for a bit. "Well, you can move out if you want to. But I hope it's not too soon."

And we left it at that. But I was sure (from previous similar discussions) that mom will make a comeback.

Sure enough, the next day, she casually brought up the subject again with just this sentence, "If you move out, I'll miss seeing you every evening."

I can only sigh and smile at that. How can you argue with that?

In the past years, my parents were deadset against the idea of me having slumber parties or staying overnight at a girl's house. "Why stay overnight at someone's place in Klang Valley? Our home not nice enough meh?" was their usual excuse.

But in the recent years, I have the freedom to stay overnight at friends' places without any questions asked. I guess by now they know that they can trust me.

So do I still want to move out? There are many pros of staying outside where I am free from dad's scrutiny. And if I wait until I'm married to move out, I will miss the freedom of living out as a single working adult. What if hubby dearest turns out to be a controlling monster? It'll be like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire!

Soooo... I am still considering moving out as a valid option. After all, mom did give the ok - sort of.

*Hey, thanks for the offer to 'STAY' Chriselle! I've got some other offers as well - that's what got me thinking that maybe, just maybe I could move out. Shall wait for the right time ;-)

*Coolcat.. you wanna move out? but why? ;-) hi hi hi..

I experienced something different. I stayed with my aunt (more like a mother to me) from 1999 till mid 2000. It was super duper comfortable to live with my aunt.

But God actually gave me a huge "nudge" "You wanna grow, you move out!" ... so like the obedient boy that I was.. and still am.. I moved out. And because I moved out I found DUMC 5 months later. Praise God.

Have never looked back since, well I still miss home cooked food.

*Paul, just wanted to experience the freedom living out as a single working adult. Talked with a pal about it and we thought it'd be best to live out for six months to a year before coming back when we miss the comforts of our present homes too much... hehe! When that (moving out) will happen remains to be seen.
