Forgiven... not forgotten (Part 2)

I was sniffling away in the meeting this afternoon and having unfocussed eyes, when my boss enquired about my health and then said that I could go home and get some sleep to recover from my cold. My colleagues and I stared at him with eyes as wide as saucers. He repeated what he said and for that moment, I was bowled over by his kindness and didn't know quite what to say, except for a weak 'thank you'.

So I left the office at about 3pm and had a very restful day and am well on my way to total recovery. That is, my head and mouth do not feel like they are stuffed with cotton wool and I can think clearly now.

As mentioned earlier, this flu bug hit me with a bang on Sunday - the final night of Forgiven. I woke up with a sore throat and fever racking my whole body. I slept on and off until it was time for me to go to church and put on my makeup and do the mike test. The fever did not abate at all. But still, I had the peace of God about this. That in my weakness, He is strong.

"Don't know how You are going to do this, Lord. But I know it's going to be great!" I thought to myself as I dragged my body out of bed.

But soon, the fever and sore throat got the better of me and made me feel crabby and lowly. I was very quiet in the makeup room. Thank God for the compulsory praise and worship sessions that they have before every major rehearsal and showtime! The songs chosen and led by Chriselle on every single night have never failed to lift up my spirits and remind me of why I'm involved in all this. It's not so that I can showcase my talents. Nor is it to entertain the crowds. But it's surrendering myself to Him so that He can use me to touch and impact the lives of those who needed to receive and extend forgiveness.

They prayed for me after the worship session ended and the fever left me then. Joey called her mother to bring some hot herbal tea over to me - bless Joey's kind and generous soul! Dorothy (she played Nadia, my best friend on stage) gave me some Fishermen's Friend and my voice regained its strength. Wai Wai (who played Dr. Fiona Tan) has been a great encourager throughout the production. She's always cheerful, helpful and never failed to personally pray for each of the cast before we go out on stage. I'm so amazed by this young kid - she's only 16!

That night, everyone gave their best performance ever. Both Thomas (he was Ryan, my stage husband) and I really cried our hearts out. Throughout all my stage scenes, I really felt God's strength sustaining me. After it ended, my body started to weaken and the fever returned.

Pr Chris, a veteran in the arena of faith, assured me before the show started that when I step out on stage, I would feel energized. He was tickled pink when I confirmed this 'phenomenon'.

Indeed, God works in very mysterious ways. Both Pr Chris and Chris said they cried even though they watched it many, many times already. And J-son was so excited seeing many 'aunties' in the audience weeping.

Speaking of sob scenes, it baffled us to hear the audience of all three nights laughing uproariously at scenes which we thought were serious. Heh, wished I could see what the audience saw and join in the fun ;-)

All in all, Forgiven is a very special project and has a very special place in my heart. Thank You, Lord for giving me the privilege of being a part of it :-)

*Hey girl... you were great :-) I went on Friday night and half-way through I figured out that the script had come from one of the email forwards going around, so that took some of the suspense away. But the acting was superb. I tell you it was so real, when you screamed at Ryan I actually winced! The videos were very well done to excellent effect :-)

Am sorry you got sick towards the end, glad to hear you're feeling better now. Wonderful bosses -- what would we do without them?

*Thanks, Irene :-D I had so much of fun (and angst and tears and sweat!) doing the video scenes. The kitchen argument scene was funny - the backdoor neighbour kids were all agog seeing all those cameras and me and Thomas screaming at each other using the same words and standing in the same angle over and over again. They probably thought it was a HVD production going on or something :-P

Hats off to the video team - they were under very tight resources in terms of manpower (one person doing the work of 4) and time but they did such a marvellous job. It's not an easy feat to integrate both video and stage scenes in a production but they did it so seamlessly.

Yeah! J-son saw the story from an email forward, thought it was great and the rest is history :-)

*Poor James! Well, if it's any consolation, you weren't the only one who missed it because of baby Jesse. Hung Lan had to give it a miss, too because of baby Elizabeth (she's a real cutie!). Has Jesse been introduced to her yet?? Hee....!

Chriselle, awwww... you down with flu too? Yeah! Praise God for the lives that were touched. Someone said this, "I think the last time we have so many people in tears was when the screening of "The Passion of the Christ" took place." Hmmm, shall post more comments in the 'Forgiven... not forgotten (Part 3)'.

*Hie, Ariel!

Have not meet you in person before but have definitely enjoyed your on-stage persona, 'Claire'! Haha, and oh, by the way, I'm a friend of both Jotay and Irene. Anyway, this is neat! Keep up the good work and God bless.

Have a nice day,

Deb

*Hi Deb, thanks for dropping by and for your kind words :-) Glad you enjoyed the show! Are you in DEW crew? There are two Debbies there at my last count. Are you one of them?
