... or has it already started and left me behind?
My friend, Mike Hartley wrote the following to that effect:
Noah spent 120 years - an eigth of his entire life!! - building a boat that was only useful for a year.
Suppose I live to be 80. The same scale would mean that I spend 10 years preparing for some activity that fulfils its purpose in only a month. For the rest of my 70 years, I would just be faithful to God, without any particular specific earth-shattering goal or direction.
Gosh, going by what he said, most of our time is spent on preparation. Sure gives a different perspective on how I see life now...
The life of Moses and Abraham speaks to me - God's purposes for them were only fulfilled when they were old and creaking (in Abraham's case!). And even then, Moses didn't even get to step into the promised land!
Thus, I'm taking it a day at a time and trying not to be impatient about the way things are seemingly not moving career-wise. When I think of a Noah, Moses and Abraham, I'm grateful that God still uses us even at a great old age
