After much planning, we finally made it to our second cell group outing yesterday. Only 7 out of the 10-12 members turned up. Some never got their email updates for some reason so we learned that we should use sms to notify everyone for our next outing.
Extreme Park
During the day, we went to the Extreme Park at Sunway. Most of the Paintball park was under renovations, so we all decided to head to the Petting Zoo. Yeah, the name does sound kinda kinky but it's all very decent there, I can assure you that.
Petting Zoo
I actually didn't intend to visit the zoo because I thought that all zoos were the same after a while, and brought some books along to read while the rest go inside and enjoy themselves. But the management had cleverly placed some teasers at the zoo entrance. There were two animal pens at the entrance. Some very cute guinea pigs were residing in the first pen while the second pen contained an ancient looking tortoise. We uttered delighted cries and coos as we picked up the guinea pigs and cuddled them.
Resistance against these cute pigs was futile. I gave in and bought the tickets along with my friends and soon we were marching in excitedly into the zoo. The first stop brought us to the house of reptiles and there were snakes coiled on the cages above us and behind glass cases. We poked and prodded at the snakes and I felt a mixture of fascination and 'geli-ness' at my first face-to-face encounter with the honest-to-goodness real-life snakes. Scrumptious!
A fun time was had by all, despite of the on-and-off rain. Even Grace, who doesn't really like animals, actually enjoyed herself very much there. I brought my rucksack along - the one I used in Nepal - and when it started raining, I was relieved to find waterproof ziplock bags and a poncho (raincoat) still encased in it. I quickly transferred all my electronic gadgets and valuables in the ziplock bag so that the rain water would not ruin them and don the poncho. Next time we go on an outing like this, we would get ponchos for everyone just in case it rains. Sure beats carrying bulky umbrellas around.
We waited till the rain abated a little before rushing off to one animal attraction to the next. We touched and cuddled our way through many creatures like raccoons, ponies, monkeys, parrots, a wallaby, guinea pigs, a bear cat (binturong), a rabbit, alligators, snakes and a huge 16 kg phyton. The feeling of having that huge and heavy snake wrapped around you like a living and muscular shawl is indescribable. They are not slimy at all, their skin just emits a natural shiny sheen.
There were other animals at the park that we were not able to pet like the ostriches, gibbons, monitor lizards, otters, etc but we were happy with the ones that we were allowed to cuddle. We also had a pony ride each and felt that it made the RM22 entry fee worthwhile.
Wacky Concoctions
We then adjourned to Adelle's house for our Baskin-Robbins and movie night. If you think The Ecstasy of Choc night was weird, this takes the cake. We tried:
Chips dipped in cream cheese - courtesy of Grace's suggestion
Marshmallows dipped in cream cheese - again, from Grace
Marshmallows dipped in cream cheese AND Hershey's chocolate syrup - from Hannah
Choco-lada shake which comprised of Baskin Robbins' Brownie ice-cream, Bailey's chocolate liquor, Hershey's chocolate syrup, milk and ice-cubes all blended together - from the remaining cell members
Each and every of those concoctions above were absolutely yummy. Try it for yourselves! However, our stomachs did feel a bit weird after over-indulging of those sweet things, so it's best not to eat so much junk in one sitting like we did.
Then, we watched a movie and we took turns having Chloe, Adelle's adorable and affectionate kitten to warm our laps. After the movie ended, some of us decided to call it a night and left for our homes while the rest stayed on for a sleepover.
We learned that while Baskin Robbins and all the junkfood we had were delicious, too much of it can spoil the experience. But that did not rob the joy of being Dr. Frankensteins in trying out those crazy recipes together. Looking forward to the next one, guys!
