This is a tale of two intrusions.
A couple of weeks ago, two foreigners tried to break into our house. Thank God they were not successful - concerned neighbours and grilled bars stopped them.
Upon this shocking intrusive incident, dad wasted no time in beefing up our household's security. New procedures were introduced and every family member was trained in the new
SOP.
The second intrusion came in the form of a pesky rodent. It was chewing up the door sills in a most ferocious manner. So dad set a trap for it.
A few hours later, I was out doing my laundry just now when I heard a horrifying high-pitched screetch. Sacre bleu, the trap caught the rat! It was prowling restlessly in the cage bawling to be let out. It was huge, brutal and butt-ugly. I didn't want to do my laundry in front of the baleful glare of the rat, so I called dad to rescue me.
He came out in a flash. A satisfied gleam appeared in his eyes as he took the rat far, far away from me. He made quite an impressive figure walking away with the mousetrap grasped firmly in his hands, shrieking rat and all. Once again, sanctity and safety of the household is restored and we can all rest in peace.
Thanks to dad, my hero.
