Friday, December 23. 2005Christmas Mood Honest to goodness, with just a week or so till 25th Dec, I still do not feel the least bit Christmassy. Until last Saturday, that is. I felt something warm and good flooding my heart as I sang the timeless carols with my beloved pals in CG. I was also enthralled with the Winter Wonderland in Mid Valley when bezzie and I walked about there after my book launch. Mid Valley certainly outdid themselves this year. Their Christmas decor was simply and awesomely picturesque. I felt like I was in Narnia... Anyway, during the rather un-Christmassy time I had earlier this month, I tried to console myself with the fact that it's always Christmas in my heart because Jesus is living in there. You don't need that one special day to appreciate the Lord of your life mah. It's akin to treating some folks badly throughout the year and only appreciating them on their birthdays annually. Where's the sincerity in that? But still. There is a sense of being left out when friends around you are caught up in the festivities. In the turkeys and feasts and pressies. And you don't really feel like celebrating much nor being in the holiday mood. Anyway, Christmas mood or no, here's a warm Christmas wish to all. And a message to remember the reason for the season - the tiny babe in the manger who gave His life that all may live. I'm very glad to say that I'm in the holiday mood now. Yippeedoo!! The Sun Tzu Art of Love (Finale)
Chapter 6 - The Truth Revealed
Continuation of: Chapter 1 - The Last Supper That Never Was, Chapter 2 - A Family Love Affair, Chapter 3 - Putty in His Hands, Chapter 4 - The War Continues, and Chapter 5 - Who Shall Be The 007? To Eric and Paul's dismay, Guy B was finally persuaded to choose Tim to carry out the mission. Reason being, he had the makings of a great spy - being so unassuming and all. Arrrgh, we don't believe this!!#*&@# How can like that wan??!! And so, Tim began his moves. He went through her journals. "I hate Guy B, I hate Guy B!" Wah... so chia lat wan ah?? Eavesdropped on private conversations. Girl A: Aiyo fren, I sibeh tahan Guy B leh! Girlfren: Really ar? Pass him to me can? Girl A: Can! Eh, must give me finder's fees ok? And hung around when she chatted on the phone. Girl A: Hi, Guy B! Eh, there's this fren I want you to meet leh... She very pretty wan. None of his searches brought up even a whiff of Guy C. So finally, he decided to subtly bring up the topic during one of their conversations. "So, met anyone interesting lately?" he casually asked. "Yeah, you actually," Girl A said with a smile. "You used to roll your eyes everytime I prattle about my day. But lately, you've been very, very attentive. And you like following me around even on a girls' night out. What happened?" Tim, spy extraordinaire smoothly plucked a plausible excuse out of the thin air, "Ah, well. I've been told that I've been too absorbed with gadgets and stuff. So now, I want to be in touch with my feminine side lor." "You know," Girl A fluttered her eyelashes at him and said shyly. "I am starting to find you more and more appealing. You are more open with your emotions these days, always asking about how my day went and are genuinely interested in everything I say. You are very, very different from all the guys I know." By then, Tim started feeling rather uneasy. "Errr... thanks, I think." Girl A smiled at him, "So... What do you think? Me and you... together-gether? Hmmmm?" Tim felt like the ceiling was caving in on him and started edging away, "Uhmmm... I... I... I gotta go. I'm late for another appointment. I'll... err... see you some other time. Bye!!" And he ran out of her house as if chased by a thousand fierce dogs. He didn't quite know how to break the news to Guy B. That Guy C was actually the spy himself. Aieeeee!! Meanwhile, Girl A plopped on her bed and smiled satisfactorily as she thoughtfully fingered a book she had been reading lately. A gift from her good friend, Alice. It has been a very fruitful day indeed. And from now onwards, peace shall reign in her kingdom. Or so she hopes. Disclaimer: The Sun Tzu Art of Love is copyright (c) 2005 Ariel C. This is a follow-up post to my previous notorious blog entry.
Ok, a few months back, I was introduced to this would-be new colleague in a gathering. He was smart, cool and rather dishy looking. But he was to become my colleague and so I wasn't interested. Don't believe in office romances and stuff like that mar. That is, until he mentioned casually that he had just completed his PhD. I was salivating and about to dig into my lamb chops that he brought me when I heard that. Immediately my head turned so fast to look at him with new besotted eyes that I got a neck crick. Ouch. Anyway, at the end of the day, sanity prevailed. "He's gonna be working in the same company. Get a grip of your hormones, girl!" my conscience screamed and that was that. A week later, he joined the company and as the weeks flew by, I realised that I hadn't exchanged more than a hi and a bye to him. Which was a waste, because I remembered him being really good company that night. However, things took a turn for the better. Hee hee. This week, when I sat and sipped coffee demurely next to him during our dratted early morning meetings, he finally asked me the thing that was bugging him for the past few weeks. "I've been meaning to ask you this for a long time," he began. Wah. I looked at him with what I hoped was a cool and unperturbed smile, "Oh? What is it?" "Tell me," he said with a pregnant pause. "What is the brand of coffee that are you drinking? I really love the smell of it." I was delighted. Always am whenever I discover a fellow coffee lover. More things in common mar. Very, very essential for friendship and such. Apparently, the first time when I sampled the coffee and everyone in the office could smell it, Dishy Guy got a whiff of it, too. But I was rather embarrased to tell him the brand. What would the poor guy think of me drinking a cup of supposed aphrodisiac every afternoon? So, I merely told him that the brand was P*rl Cafe. Dishy Guy wasn't about to give up on his quest for coffee that smelled so good. So today, when he passed by my place after I made my cuppa, he asked. "May I see the packaging of your coffee? Might want to get it myself." Aiyoyo... There was no escape. I had to show him. I relunctantly fished out a packet and handed it to him, "Eh, by the way, this is Kacip Fatimah. It has absolutely no effects on me ar. I just drink it as I would any cup of coffee." He very gingerly took the packet that I gave him. "You can have that if you like," I said generously. "Errrr... I don't know if I should," he said doubtfully. "Take it. No effects wan!" I said confidently. Finally he nodded and winked at me, "Ok, I'll take it. Hopefully, this won't make me more emotional after this." "Aiya, just one packet. No problem lar," I grinned back at him, secretly hoping to see how this cool guy would react when he's... emotional. It's funny but I had no idea that all these while my Kacip Fatimah coffee was paving the way to a closer comradeship. Isn't this so nice? Me and Me Coffee Mug! Forgetful Santarina
Bought some pressies for some friends when we meet tonight for dinner after work. Even had them encased in some decent kinda wrapping. But this morning, as I was dashing through the tar roads to work, I realised that I had forgotten to bring them along with me.
Apada. I'm so used to leaving the house with just one bag that I have the tendency to forget to bring extra things along. But my dear friends still want to see me anyway. Pressies or not. Love you guys! Pressie will come later, 'kay?
