Back To The Future

Back to the Future was one of my favourite trilogies while growing up. The best one of all was the first episode where Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) had the opportunity to go back into his parents' past and make those two fall in love with each other. He had to. Else he would cease to exist.

You would think that one of the most memorable scenes of the movie that I can recall to great detail to this day would be the scene where Marty first got into the car and whizzed back to the past. Or when Marty's mom (then a teenager) fell in love with him instead of his dad. Or when Marty was doing some cool moves on the electric guitar towards the end of the movie.

But no, none of those scenes were etched forever into my memory. The scene of Marty McFly's unusual sleeping position does. Sorry, couldn't find any pics on this but might shoot one of my own.

This scene takes the cake. Maybe because it really is an odd position to sleep in. I would imagine the cramps Marty would experience when he wakes up the next morning.

But this morning, I didn't have to imagine it anymore. For I found myself sprawled on my bed exactly like Marty McFly.

And boy, it does hurt when I woke up. My neck, upper arms and back were in pain when I moved.

Must have been that nightmare I had last night. Can't recall what it was exactly but it did involve going back to my past. And seeing my mom in a frightening hair do .

I'm Glad That...

Man, what a looong and tiring day it has been. But to keep my spirits sweet and buoyant, I'm counting the things that I am grateful for. Today.

Here goes:
  1. I managed to stay awake and work today without consuming any coffee - What a feat! Which is why I feel like I'm about to crash after blogging about this.

  2. I've gone thru a crappy day but I've got great friends who cheered me up real good - My colleagues and bosses must be wondering why I walked around today with a perennial grin on my sleepy face. And not only today, but over the past few weeks even. Thanks, folks for the jokes, vanity boosters, listening ear and support given. You know who you are *hugs*

  3. I don't have a mean boyfriend - I always believe that having no boyfriend is a 100 x better than having a mean one. Besides, who needs a crappy fellow when one has got great chums? Peh.

  4. I've got warm and yummy home-cooked food and loving parents to go back home to - Nothing like home to knock some wholesomeness back into you!

  5. I still have ten fingers and ten toes - I mean, people lose them every so often these days with all the street mugging going around. Must be grateful for all things big or small mar.

Ok, you can tell I'm rambling off-tangent now (as if that's not my signature trait!). Definitely time to head home. Nite, folks! I'm going to be a good girl and sleep early tonight. Again.

Patriotism

image

Saw this call to blog in Malay on our National Day (31 Aug) in Irene's blog and thought, sounds like fun! Besides having nothing better to do, of course. And so I registered here. All you Malaysian bloggers who are feeling a wee bit patriotic can sign up there, too.

I don't consider myself to be very patriotic. Ok, maybe just a tad. I still remember how to sing the national anthem and standing up in respect whenever it is played. And there was one Merdeka day where my bezzie and I took away to the East Coast and we yelled 'Selamat Hari Merdeka!!!' to the every flag bearing motorcyclist who zoomed past our car.

And now, to heed the call to blog in our national language. Man, I've never felt more patriotic in my life. Heh.

Now, to brush up on my Malay.

Selamat Hari Merdeka - Happy Independence Day

Hic!

Heavy head.

Difficulty in concentrating on the juicy conversation going on.

Eyes that simply refuse to open.

Nausea.

Yep, those are signs of a drunk. The state which I found myself in yesterday at my boss' dinner party. Shouldn't have taken that glass of champagne on an empty stomach.

Thank God for my bro who could drive my auto car by now. I was so sluggish, I could barely walk a straight line, let alone drive.

After champagne. Hic!

I guess that's why people can drown their sorrows with alcohol. Getting filled with booze makes it so easy to plonk on your bed and sleep to oblivion. But when you are awake and sober, the pain that you are trying to numb will still be there. It's similar to other kinds of methods of escapism.

But oh man, it'll be quite a while before I consume alcohol again.

Kids, don't do this at home (or anywhere else for that matter!)

Shopaholic Spree and Aug Babies

Shopaholic Spree

The roller coaster at Berjaya Times Square. One word: Scary!

Sat, 20th Aug

"Oi, kesian you fall sick on your birthday today. Let's go do something nice tomolo," I said to my bezzie, Rina.

"Ok lor. Wanna check out that new mall called Avenue K?" Rina said sluggishly under the influence of drugs (medicinal, not Ecstasy).

"Can, anything you want to do. It's your day!" I replied.

And thus today we shopped. Till we dropped. Well, almost lar. From 2pm to 10pm our dainty feet covered KLCC, Avenue K (Very quiet. Still a LOT of vacant slots), Berjaya Times Square (Borders...yaay! Didn't really like the layout of the place but it was much better than Avenue K. Roller coaster looked real scary!), Low Yat Plaza (One of my little heavens on earth) and Sungai Wang Plaza (The whole place screams 'Cheap, cheap, cheap!').

Man, were we on a roll. You couldn't tell that Rina was as sick as a dog for the past few days. She was all pink, bright and chirpy. Shopping does that to most girls, you know.

Shopping was not much of a problem for me despite having to hobble on one leg - got leg cramps the day before, youch! Maybe because my head felt lighter after the haircut I had this afternoon. That and the miraculous effect shopping has on the female species. The hairdresser kept commenting how much hair I had. Garn, I could write a book about how often I hear that comment. Anyways, hair matters deserve a post of their own. Later.

And no, I didn't overspend :-P

Aug Babies

I have a special concern in my heart for people who are going through tough times during their birthday month. Cases in point: My bezzie falling sick on her bday, an adorable old geezer having his exams and a caring sister in Christ experiencing a serious car crash.

Knowing how much they appreciated the little things I did to cheer them up just simply warms my heart. It's really nice to know I made a difference in your lives. So thank you for thanking me bday hugs
