Observant Creatures

Astute comments from observant creatures (OCs) can make me squirm sometimes. Here are some real-life examples:

Scenario 1

Me: Here, have a look, these are my Nepal photos.
Other Unobservant Creatures: Ooooh, so nice! I wanna go, I wanna go there, too!
The Observant Creature #1: Hey, isn't this the grey hat you wore to Taiping? Isn't this the sunglasses that you wore during lunch that day? And aren't these the blouse and pants that you are wearing like, right now?
Me:*gag-gag-gag-mentally-wishing-I-could-throttle-him-with-bare-hands* Oh... heh... What can I say? You are so, so observant!

Scenario 2

Me: yakking away with pals complete with animated facial and hand gestures
The Observant Creature #2: eerily staring at me with fixed eyes and then breaks his silence with... Why are the fingernails on your right hand long while the ones on your left are short?"
Me: eyes blinking in confusion wondering what my fingernails had to do with the juicy conversation that was going on Oh, that's very, very observant of you! I, er, play the guitar, you see. And I need short nails for the hand that forms the chords and long nails for the hand that strums and plucks the strings.

Being an unobservant creature (UC) myself, it never ceases to amaze me whenever I hear those astute comments. Whenever I go out and suddenly realised that I forgot to fix something on my person, I would just brush it aside with a "Who's gonna notice anyway?"

But after the above-mentioned encounters with the observant kind, I realised that some people do notice about things like this, and what's more, will mention it for all and sundry to hear. But I also realised that the best way to respond would be to simply tell the truth. And have a good laugh over my own eccentricities or wackiness that have been so helpfully pointed out by them.

So do continue to delight us with your observations, OCs. You guys are what makes this world a vivid and wackier place to live in :-)

About Me

Ariel is surrounded by amazing, loving folks. So what if there's a fly outside the window with an irritating buzz? Pfffftt :P
