There's Nothing Like Home

I came back and saw my mom standing by the dining table. I wanted to sneak a hug but spotted a hot kettle in her hand. So, I just settled for a simple, "Hey, I missed you yesterday."

She turned back and gave me a brilliant smile, "Really? Wait..." She put the kettle back to its place and gave me a hug. "I'm glad you said that. You know, Papa thought that you preferred staying at your 'second' parents house and wondered if their house is more comfy than ours. He was wondering if you like spending time with them more than with us."

"Aiyo, no lah, mom. There's nothing like home," I said loyally. "And I do miss you lots."

It warmed my heart to see her face brightening up even more to that.

Not being one to miss out, my brother tried to weasel some love statements from mom and me, "Huh, you miss only mom? What about me?!"

Ah, it's good to be home...

Sleepover

I bunked at Uncle Pong and Aunty Sally's house last night. Was helping them with their pc problems and then when it got late, they asked me to stay over instead of driving the long way home.

It was nice waking up so near the office and not battle the jams from Klang. We had a nice breakfast nearby the house and then I had to dash off relunctantly to work. Would have been nice to spend the day with them, walking the dogs and having a cosy chat with them - there's always plenty to talk about with this lovable and hospitable couple ;-)

But still...

I missed hugging and yakking away with my mom last night. Probably a day away is too soon to be missing my mom, but I can't help it - she's always been a fixture in my life, the one that I go back to and who always have a space in her heart and arms for me. And I can't wait to go home soon and give her a great big HUG. Hee!

About Me

Ariel is surrounded by amazing, loving folks. So what if there's a fly outside the window with an irritating buzz? Pfffftt :P
