Aussie Hols Highlight #1 - My Best Friend's Wedding

At long last, the long distance relationship of bezzie and her beau, HS culminated in a cosy wedding. The ceremony was held at the Victorian Marriage Registry, Old Treasury Building, Spring Street, Melbourne.

Rina looked absolutely gorgeous and HS was dashing. I was initially concerned about Rina adjusting to a brand new life in Aussieland and only having HS to depend upon when she first migrated. But when I saw how happy the couple were together, and how responsible HS is in caring and providing for Rina, I could heave a big sigh of relief. As they exchanged their binding vows at the registry, I felt a lump coming on my throat. All those years when Rina and I would wonder how our future husbands would be came to mind. She has finally found her true love. And there is nothing more wonderful than to share the joy of one's best friend on her wedding day.

The blushing bride

This pic says it all - HS is one darn cheeky dude

But Rina is well up to his tricks!

The bridal entourage

Me, Rina and MF

The bride and the maid of honor

"Yaay! Our kids are finally leaving the nest!"

HS was so happy to sign the marriage cert!

There were 7 weddings held that day but the coordinator somehow managed to make everyone feel that this is the one wedding that matters. But once our time was up, she hurried us away to make way for another couple who had a Scottish bagpipe player. How cool is that!

After the wedding and resting a while at their hotel room, we made our way to the dinner at Bok Choy Tang, Federation Square. It was raining all day, which was rather disheartening but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Thankfully, HS came to the rescue with his mega big duckie brolly!

The food took a while in coming.

Miranda was so hungry that she was tempted to chomp on her hand

"My dear, you don't have to do that. Come and have a bite at KFC instead!

But when dinner was served, it was truly delicious. Very different from the normal Malaysian Chinese wedding dinner fare though.

As you can see, I enjoyed myself there.

Had great dinner companions including a cute guy

... and a joker

The dinner was a small and cosy affair with 24 guests. This gave ample time for the couple to mingle with everyone. I wished all weddings could be like that. Nice and not so stressful. Plus you get to yak with your bezzie ;-)

The very happy couple

Congrats, HS and bezzie!
