Finally! After a few days of not being able to access my blog from home, here I am.
Happy New Year, folks! Seems a crime to wish you guys belatedly, but there's no help for it. Ah well, better late than never.
This year started very very nicely - compared to the
sad state of events the year before. Can't think of anything sadder or more melancholy than counting down to the new year in front of the pc.
Let's see, I had a nice dinner with some friends at The Ship Restaurant, went for the Watchnight Celebration at church, met many dear ones there and hugged one particular kindred spirit ferociously as if we had not seen each other in a hundred years. Truth be known, we just met the day before, but New Year's celebration just wouldn't be complete if she was not there. Then I stayed over at MF's home and had lunch with her folks the day after. After that, met up with Twinnie and Annie for some coffee and eyebrow threading.
Yep, it was the first time I had my eyebrows threaded and I felt that it was significant that I should do something new on 1st of Jan. That's what this year is going to be for me - a year of impact. I still wouldn't want to budge from my country - in fact, 2006 has all but confirmed that there is a need to remain and see how I can help Malaysia be a better place to live. I still would remain in my company for a while longer because now, I'm loving my job more and more. I still would remain in the same church and spend more time with my family at home.
It's strange how things have changed. I used to want changes in my life and hated being a person with not many dramatic updates. But now, I see the joy and importance of growing roots and blooming where God has planted me. In year 2006, I found that staying put and growing stronger roots is far from a boring thing. New challenges and learning experiences can come forth in familiar places. And God is such an exciting person that the minute one is complacent, there is always something else to conquer, to overcome, to receive, to grow from and to enjoy.
Farewell, tumultous but fruitful 2006. Here's to an impactful year 2007!
