After a nice long day helping out in a video shoot and shopping with a newly-discovered kindred spirit, I joined my family to celebrate my niece's 6th birthday. The minute I stepped into my sister's house, I felt a keen sense of belonging that is different from the rest. These are my people. The ones that have known me and whom I've known all my life. So, even though I was tired by then, I was energized by their presence.
On the other side of the equation, my niece and nephew were equally energised by the sight of my baby. They kept asking me to take photos of them in different poses until their father got worried. "Hey, I think your camera is making them to be veritable vainpots."
"Nah, it's too late," I reassured him. "This vain-pottishness is already in-built in them just waiting to be unleashed." Before I could continue further, I was bombarded with more urgent requests for shots which they deemed to be cool.
