"Hello, dear," the cheery voice over the phone was unmistakable. "Happy birthday!!!"
"Hi, mom," I replied in surprise. My birthday has passed about a month ago and my dearest mom with whom I'm living with calls me out of the blue to wish me a happy birthday? Something seems very, very odd. Hmmmm.
"I checked my Chinese calendar and guess what, it's your birthday today! Just want to wish you a happy Chinese birthday, dearie!" she went on happily.
"Ooooh, thanks, mom!" I said, relieved and estatic.
"So, come home tonite and we'll have a nice dinner, ya?"
"Ok!"
Someone commented the other day that my birthday is akin to
Siti Nurhaliza's wedding - it seems never ending and the celebrations keep going on and on. And it's true - someone else wished me a belated birthday the other day and I'm expecting a very nice birthday pressie this week.
I ain't complaining. Bring on 'em celebrations, I say

Happy Chinese birthday to me!!!
