Everybody Loves Facials

I'm a firm believer in equal opportunities. This includes facials. I have no problems with guys who are concerned about their facial hygiene - as long as it doesn't affect their machoness in any way - i.e. - "Honey, I can't possibly take out the trash now! I haven't slather sunblock on my face yet. And I still need to wait 10 minutes before my cucumber relaxing peel-off mask hardens."

Yeeech.

Or escalate to makeup matters.

"Dear, give me ten more minutes. I still have to tweeze my eye brows and apply foundation to my face."

Eeeeeeewww.

But I'm happy to report that the guys in my cell group are not like that at all. Their machoness did not disappear when they explored the fascinating world of facials yesterday. At first everyone was shy and hesitant to start. Until Ju bravely volunteered to be the first guinea pig. Once Ju paved the way, everybody else followed suit. It was truly a wonderful opportunity for us to exchange facial care tips and bond together as we cleaned, scrubbed, masked and moisturised our faces and wait for our masks to set together.

Man, this was really something I had looked forward to all week. And it turned out well. I think everyone else enjoyed it almost as much as I did, snapping photos of them in various stages of facial care. Right, guys? Right??

I'll let the pics below do the talking ;-)

Facial Steps
  1. First and foremost, wear a headband to prevent your hair from spilling all over your face during your facial session.

Alternatively, you can crop your hair short, like this:

  2. Wash your face with a gentle facial cleanser. Harsh ones will strip the skin dry from moisture

  4. Scrub your face once or twice a week to remove that layer of dead skin cells

  6. With the scrub still on your face, place your face over a facial steamer. Alternatively, you can place your face above a bowl of steaming water. This will open up the pores to enable blackheads to pop out easily in the next step. After five minutes or so, you can move away from the steamer and then scrub your face gently before rinsing it off with water.

Some of them loved the steamer so much that they plonked their faces there for quite a long while. Hee...

  8. Put pore packs or nose pore peel off mask to remove blackheads. This is everyone's favourite part of the facial as can be attested by their happy grins.

If you are not sure how to get them on your nose, get a friend to help you.

And voila! Here are the results of the pore pack session. Everyone voted this to be the most disgusting pore pack of the night. We were also envious of such brilliant results. I mean, this was from a guy who swore he had no need to participate in our facial ritual. Haha, famous last words lar! Anyway, he shared the secret of his trade with us - the trick was to not let any air bubbles get into your pore pack and to wait until it's really dry before ripping it off your nose. Look at all those blackheads. Simply amazing!

  10. The final step is to apply a moisture/purifying mask upon your face. Leave it on for 5 - 15 minutes before washing it off. This will do all sorts of nice things to your skin.
